"Proximity to wealth deludes some into believing they possess it."
Snowfall continued outside of the window. It was getting late in the day which frustrated Kechi because he was the sort to accomplish much in short periods of time. At one second his seat was empty and the next he was in it, legs under his desk and right hand pressed upon his forehead. Beads of sweat dripped onto the reddish cloth while his left hand reached into his drawer to pull out a clear glass container with small red pills. Opening the contained as he leaned back in his seat he'd take two of the pills and close it, placing it back into the drawer while simultaneously shoving them in his mouth and swallowing. This was the price he paid for his kekkei genkai - the price of the Shunjichoshin. The red pills were appropriately named Kenkōiji Pills (健康維持の錠剤) which translated to Health Preservation Pills. He loathed them and waited eagerly for the day when he would no longer need to consume them. Taking a final breather, the man closed his eyes and sat up straight.
For the time being his office was rather sparse - it was under construction, as per usual. Kechi had an eye for the finer things and so those who knew him knew that his various officers were always under construction at one point or another. Reaching to his right he'd grab one of the gray scrolls and unravel it - the kanji for the name "Kiseki Isogi" was written in pink at the top with various instructions below as well as a picture of her and details of her abilities and background. Before Kechi could speak with Yubi and Kojin he would need to send the others off on an assignment, one to retrieve this young mysterious girl. Giving everyone time to show, he'd speak once they were all assembled.
"Keji, Zeze, and you - Kuragari. The three of you are to fetch something, or rather... someone, for me in the Land of Water."
Surely there would be an air of surprise. Hadn't he just assailed Kuragari in the meeting room? Certainly so! So what was the meaning of this? Having obtained a lock of the boy's hair and storing it in one of his drawers, Kechi knew that Kuragari would never be able to defy him again... but he also knew that the boy was strong. "Her name is Kiseki Isogi." Perhaps Keji would remember who this was... but certainly Yubi would. This was his daughter whom he had denied. Reports of her speed and ability, however, convinced him that she was indeed something special. Perhaps he could gain something from examining her... particularly because she had been reported as sickly which was odd for an Isogi her age.
"Be quick about it as I am aware that you are all quite familiar with the state of things. As we speak I am ordering a special barrier to be produced throughout the island so as to secure our valuables in time of distress." Never did he mention the people. Was anyone surprised? "Kuragari you will lead this task. Failure is not an option and if you wish to have what you desire most..." he'd say, glancing upon Kanora his little sister. "You will be successful. Do you understand?" as he spoke he raveled up the scroll and handed it forward to Kuragari.
As the snow continued to fall outside Kinshi simply stood to the side of Kechi's desk, they had very recently moved from their former location in the meeting room to Kechi's highly secure office. During this time Kinshi had brought the unconscious Kuragari with him, placing him down on the floor before simply remain silent as Kechi took his medicine that he had previously stored and prepared for an emergency. For the young blindfolded man, this was a common occurrence as he was most often the one delivering the medicine to Kechi himself. Once Kechi had finished taking the specially prepared medicine for his ailment Kinshi seemed to listen and follow along with the commands that Kechi had been giving to the three boys about their mission to go and collect Kiseki Isogi a young girl from the Land of Water. To most, this would seem odd as it was a common belief that Kinshi was in fact deaf and couldn't hear a single word being said. Fortunately, for the young Jonin and Chief of Staff what most didn't know was he specialised in a powerful sensory technique that he had masted due to having lived "blind" since he was 14 years of age. This sensory technique allowed him to see without seeing and even understand what others were saying without hearing it.
This allowed him to understand and follow along as he heard his and Kechi's two students being given a mission with the new arrival who had almost lost his life at the hands of Kechi only moments ago. When Kinshi heard Kechi inform the team that the boy named Kuragari was in charge he was a little worried, as a mentor and a teacher he had a soft spot for the boys even if he and Zeze tended to give each other some attitude at times. "Good luck boys, and remember you represent the Land of Coin and the Hidden petal Village so try not to cause any unnecessary trouble," spoke the strong yet friendly disembodied voice of Kinshi as he made it obvious it was his doing as to not freak out the new boy who may still have been confused by his speaking without speaking. Even as he watched and waited for the boys to take there actions Kinshi couldn'thelp but think back to moments ago when the great Master of Puddles and Destroyer of Lilly Pads came talking his usual stuff.
Keji wasn't thrilled about having the guy that just got decked in the meeting room as part of their team, even if it was temporary. It wasn't his problem, specifically, it was just... Okay, no, Zeze was on their team, and his dad liked Zeze, so it was a little less like he was getting shoved aside with Kuragari. And it seemed Kinshi wasn't even able to come with them. Second mission as official chuunin and he was with just these two. He'd need to find someone safe to leave Akaya with before they could leave, maybe Kojin? He liked him, and Kojin seemed to like kids, or at least, he liked Keji. Maybe he could ask Kojin to make sure Akaya stayed safe and got healthy while Keji was away. He hadn't planned out where Akaya would stay either; was that something he... right, he was supposed to focus on the mission. He was going to do his best to keep from disappointing his dad any more than usual. Keji was actually pretty lucky the guy was so busy.
Keji observed the scroll with information about the girl they were looking for. She was obviously an Isogi clan member, so maybe another one of his cousins? He didn't really remember anyone who looked like her, so they probably hadn't met, or at least, not as far back as he could remember. Her name was familiar, though. He wasn't sure where he remembered it from. He didn't have questions for his dad, so he just resolved to ask Kojin about Akaya before they had to leave. He couldn't take the baby on the mission. He eyed Kanora, though, wondering what she had to do with things and hoping not to draw whatever kind of attention that was to Akaya.
After receiving order Zeze was a little shocked that Kuragari would be coming along, however he didn’t really care that he was coming along; so long as he could protect himself. Letting out a sigh before he’d begin to speak he was irritated for having to ask what he’s about to ask knowing Kechi would want them to get moving immediately.
“Excuse me, Pres.” Zeze called out to Kechi trying to get his attention, using the nickname he always called him. “Can you find someone suitable to take care of the baby till we return.” side eyeing Keji, he offered him a sly smirk to comfort him. “You owe me” the boy whispered to Keji, and he had something special in mind for Keji to settle his debt for doing him a solid. Observing the room everyone had to stand letting Yubi and the “Dirty Giant” Ze said as he was thinking out loud, he was antagonizing Kojin cause he didn’t like that he treated him like a baby. He was also very upset that Yubi was pregnant however he didn't want to express how he felt about it while in Kechi's office, he knew his sensei had a short fuse when ever someone disrespected him. Once Keji is able to give the orphan child to someone in the room who wasn’t going anywhere, Ze was ready to go complete this mission so they could get paid. He was upset he didn’t get to go on the last mission but he kept it to himself, the young man always managed to loot something from other countries when he had the chance to visit. Ze had a secret collection of stolen jewelry not many people knew of or cared about the stolen collection.
Once the young warrior had awakened, he had thought to himself about the situation that happened. One moment he was wide awake, perfectly fine, the next moment he felt a hit to his jaw which pushed him back but overall he still felt fine even afterwards. The thing that confused him the most was why he fell unconscious, Kuragari had no idea what kind of people these powers had, but it definitely interested him much more than he already was. Was it speed? Or was it something else? The young warrior needed to know, it was only other person he knew with speed like that. Regardless, this was his life now, he gained more respect for the man he mistook for just being all talk from their first encounter, but that wasn't going to change how he acted until he grew to like this particular group of people. They could have killed both him and Kanora, but considering the fact both of them are still alive means they have some importance or they were just trying to form a bond with Kuragari clearly couldn't get behind, at least not yet. However, he stood himself up completely unaware of the shield of dark matter placed on him by Kanora as he followed the voices of the others to where Kechi had been. Upon arriving, the first thing he heard was him needing to go on a mission with the two named Zeze and Keji. But there were 2 other things he took in, 1.Why was Kechi so tired all of a sudden? And 2. Why did he trust Kuragari with two of his allies. Was this some kind of test of trust or something else? After hearing what the others had to say, the young shinobi took it upon himself to ask kechi about what happened, specifically the part where no one is dead. The tone in his voice was still quite arrogant and annoyed, but there was also a slight hint of "niceness" since he did spare them afterall.
"Hey, Kechi. Tell me something... Why didn't you kill me and Kanora when you had the chance?"
Still hating the fact his sister gets brought up in such a way by this guy, but he couldn't protect her by himself. That was something he always knew but was never willing to admit, that was the whole reason Kuragari agreed to go along in the first place. All the others seemed nice, especially the one who spoke out first wishing them good luck. With that, and after Kechi answered his question of If he answered it at all, Kuragari tuned and began to walk off towards the door out the office. Though before completely exiting, he turned his head back a bit to give Kechi a side eye glare as he mentioned something else he felt would come in handy for them.
"Another thing, be on the lookout for someone else. There's someone I think you'd be interested in. I only spent a few months with her, but she's the exact opposite of what I am."
“Once the spotlight is on and the curtains have opened it is my destiny to take the lead!” - Yūbi
It didn’t take long for the Redhead to realize that the pink-haired president wasn’t listening to her complaints at all, as per usual he always chooses to listen if it’s important to him if not he would attempt to numb her voice out. This only made her blood boil more and it was perfectly clear to see by the agitated look on her face. “Hey! Are you--” Just when she wanted to drag his attention to what she was saying she was interrupted by his focused expression. He probably noticed the state she was in and realized she was pregnant, with twins at that. She had forgotten her uncle didn’t need words to notice what she’s going through. With that, she looks back to Kinshi who had also taken notice of her presence. She offered him a bright smile as if she never was agitated at all, truth be told she liked Kinshi because he wasn’t noisy enough to give her a headache.”Likewise Kinshi.” Though she wanted to catch up on how Kinshi is doing, a certain loud voice she hadn’t heard in YEARS… both her and Kechi immediately knew this voice belonged to someone they went through for a lifetime, and to this day their relationship was still… unexplainable. She realized her uncle wanted to make a break for it but it was no use. Kojin had already entered the room.
Her face returned back to an agitated one when she fixed her gaze upon the sky blue-haired male who completely overshadows her with his gigantic height. Just the look of him not only mocking her but also need to look down on her as if she was a midget pissed her off.
“Your witty remarks are a nuisance as usual! I would’ve thought after all these years you would know to shut your trap for once!”
One would normally be happy to see the other after years and express how much she missed them but this wasn’t the case for Yubi at all, although she must admit inside she was happy to see old faces again in her hometown. And she knew that’s how the three of them secretly felt even though they all screamed the opposite at each other. While she and Kojin had their exchange of words the Kechi next to her would disappear and the real one would appear by her side. Judged by his out-of-breath state she realized he must’ve used his abilities to a point. This cursed Kekkei Genkai wasn’t doing any of them justice at this point this is why the ebony rarely wanted to use her abilities it only brought her to pain. She then glared back at Kojin who patted her back, she wanted to answer his witty remark but it reminded her how she had to walk home on her own and thus leaving her even more annoyed. But she would leave her complaints after the most important part.
“Oh please! Your height is abnormal at this point. Knowing Kechi he ran away from you on purpose!”
She giggled at her own remark, mostly because her exposure was a fact. These two had always been like cats and dogs, always one running and the other chasing. Any normal person wouldn’t keep up with them. Though she was sure Kojin barely was able to hear her remarks because he was too caught up in his own humorous remarks. Her attention returned to Kechi once he asked her to come too. “Red bean huh… it’s truly been a while since I last been here and somehow you two are already giving me a headache” Even though she showed complaints and protests she left the room and headed over to the pink-haired president's office.
~In The President’s Office~
The moment she entered the room she stayed silent, not wanting to intrude on the kids' exchange of information. But also because she was curious about what he was plotting and what was going on in her village. The mention of Kiseki Isogi made her think back, her name was memorable and the image of the little girl was definitely in her mind. But she was sure the little girl grew so much the last time she was mentioned or seen by her. One by one she looked at these kids and hoped they were able to succeed in their mission with no trouble along the way. Especially for the kid with the brown hair, the way he was beaten up earlier had the redhead a little worried but they should be fine. Yubi was only here to report her own mission after all, not to care about another one.
"I'll keep watch over the kid for you. Just promise me you'll do well on your mission!"
Kojin had finally arrived, appearing behind Keji as he grabbed at the blanket that swaddled the baby around the boy's shoulders. He pulled the swaddle up from the boy, sending his hair into a frenzy before dropping the child around his own neck. The difference in their size made it hard for the blanket to fall any lower on his body, so it simply rested upon his neck. He looked down at the infant, then back down at Keji before placing his hand down on the pink-haired boy's head, the weight of his arm sure to put some pressure on the boy's small figure.
"Hey, Shorty! The hell you keep leaving me for? You ask me to do you a favor, then you're nowhere to be found! You can't treat me like Blindy over there and this lil rodent!"
Kojin shouted, glancing over to Kinshi as he stood almost like a stone statue at Kechi's side. He swatted at the back of Zeze's neck as the boy made a verbal jab at him. Despite Kojin's apparently biased views on Keji and Zeze, being that he always tilted in Keji's favor. He held no strong distaste for the child, his actions were only to make Keji feel better for the way his father often treated him. He felt as though if Kojin were to treat Keji better than Zeze it would create a balance due to Kechi's obvious favoritism towards the peach-haired brat who stood beside him. However, there was a bit more to it than just keeping a balance.
Everything about Keji reminded Kojin of the Kechi he once knew from his childhood. From the way he spoke, to the way he looked, even his personality and disposition. It all reminded him of Kechi. This lead to him liking Keji more than his teammates and even his sensei. In Kojin's eyes, Keji was a chance to live alongside Kechi as he once did, albeit in much a much more luxurious setting than he and Kechi had grown up in.
Keji looked a lot more relaxed as he relinquished Akaya to Kojin's care, his hands hovering near the wrap until it was settled firmly around Kojin's neck. He wouldn't want Akaya to squirm and fall out at the last minute.
"He needs a medic," Keji explained to him quietly, his eyes holding simple hope that Kojin would keep him safe and well. Akaya's face was screwed tight in a little grimace around the edge of the emergency drink pouch he'd finished, exhausted and still unwell from his days in the woods. Scrapes and scratches that didn't belong on an infant had been wiped mostly clean, but not yet healed.
Keji shot a glare at Zeze as soon as he turned back.
"I do not," he hissed.
He was ready to just get on with this mission and start looking for the girl already. Keji was realizing... eager as he had been to get back, he actually kind of hated being home.
As the meeting continued Kinshi remained in his place beside Kechi as the conversations continued to unfold all around him. While Kinshi stood their his Land Sense would still be active allowing for his total and absolute vision over the immediate vicinity. With this active Kinshi was able to understand each and every word that was being spoken at the moment. Kinshi listened as the boys spoke about the mission that they had just been assigned and how they'd need someone to care for little Akaya. He even noticed the little hello from his good friend Yubi, unlike some others that his employer kept around Yubi was one that Kinshi actually got along with well as they were both rather calm individuals.
Unfortunately, the pleasant interactions wouldn't last long as a certain large and annoying individual would arrive on the scene. This was none other than the hulking man known as Kojin, or as Kinshi calls him Fish Face. "Well, it's good to see you too Fish Face," said Kinshi's disembodied voice as he appeared to look over in Kojin's direction.
